How to treat FAT? Picking your doctor wisely.

If you are interested in having some body contouring, and by that, I mean removal of unwanted fat deposits in areas of the body, then your best option is to seek out a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon that offers both surgical and non-surgical options. Too often, patients go to the closest, least expensive body contouring ‘doctor’ who is not an aesthetic specialist or board certified in the specialty of Plastic Surgery. Credential are important! In addition, if the doctor performing the treatment only offers non-surgical options, the end result may fall short of the ideal. the old adage, “if all you have is a hammer, the whole world looks like a nail” could apply here. This past week I saw a patient that had CoolSculpting treatments followed by Laser Liposuction, both done my non-surgeons. Based on our conversation with the patient, it appeared that the patient had skin laxity that would not be amenable for a treatment that did not remove her loose skin. Needless to say, she spent a great deal of money ($9000 +), and time ( over 2 years) and still has not achieved an aesthetic result. A surgical tummy tuck and liposuction, (costing less than $9000 total) would have given her the ultimate flat/tight tummy she was seeking.

At the Aesthetic Associates Centre, my staff and I can offer non-surgical body contouring using Warm Sculpting- Sculpsure which is a 20 minute treatment, and typically requires 2-3 sessions. When surgery is needed, such as liposuction or Tummy Tuck, I can perform that procedure in our office surgery center or at the local hospitals.

My suggestion is to get a second opinion before treating your body to a procedure. Some individuals spend more time picking our an appliance than a medical doctor.
